December 2024

Keep an eye out for our brochures around the region!

Can you believe it's already December? As we step into 2024's final month, the air is filled with a sense of reflection and anticipation. The mornings are brisk, and the days are shorter, reminding us that it's the perfect time to pause and appreciate the journey we've taken this year.

December invites us to slow down, to be kind to ourselves, and to celebrate the small and significant victories we've experienced. Let's embrace this time to recharge, reflect, and look forward to the possibilities that 2025 will bring.

Wishing you all a month filled with warmth and inspiration!

How to Create a Topography Mesh

Check out our YouTube Tutorial: ArchiCAD enhances our architectural approach by enabling the creation of 3D topography models that bring designs to life. By tracing contour lines and converting them into detailed 3D meshes, we gain crucial insights into the land's natural contours, ensuring our projects blend seamlessly with their surroundings. Whether for new constructions or retrofits, ArchiCAD allows us to visualize every detail, improving client communication and streamlining the design process.

Project Progress: Sugarhill

During our recent site visit as part of the Construction Administration (CA) phase for Sugar Hill, we were excited to observe several significant developments. The installation of the wood flooring has been completed, adding a touch of elegance to the interior spaces. At the same time, the standing seam roof was being installed!

Overall, the project is on track, and we are thrilled with the progress made thus far by the owner/builder and her first double stud wall. We look forward to continuing this journey and eagerly anticipate the completion of Sugar Hill very soon!

Project Highlight: Ames Hill Passive

Our first Passive House, our first double-stud wall, and our first Minotair installation. A family of artists were searching for a place to sink their roots in Southern Vermont, and found this lovely spot on the side of a hill, with a walking trail to a protected pond, and plenty of room to explore and create. The ceramicists even made some of their feature tiles for this project. Ames Hill Passive is a new construction project that was completed in 2020.

Project Progress: Phoenix Nest

We're thrilled to share an exciting update on the Phoenix Nest project, currently under construction by Mathes Hulme Builders. Now emerging from the forest adjacent to the Dragon Den, Phoenix Nest is a single family home for retirement to the north country, with access to the new grandchild. A U-shaped footprint provides easy access all around and views to the sheltering forest from all rooms. On-site, the team is working with Rockwool insulation on top of the Yellow Guard air and vapor retarder membrane.
